Bird Care:
Keeping the house clean will help keep your birds healthy, happy and coming back for more.
If you do want to protect your birdhouse further, use a water-based preservative. Such paint/preservative types are clearly marked on the container, and are available from most hardware shops.
Preservatives should only be applied to the outside of the house. Apply in the winter, when there is a low likelihood of occupancy. This will allow time for any remaining volatile components to evaporate.

Annual cleaning of Home Tweet Home:
After the end of each breeding season, all nest boxes should be taken down and the old nesting materials removed, clean with boiling water to kill any parasites.

Installing Home Tweet Home:
Location - fix to a tree or wall. The height above ground is not critical - just make sure the house is out of reach of inquisitive humans and curious cats. It is best to mount a box facing somewhere between south-east and north, this will avoid strong direct sunlight.
